You won — where to claim, how long you have, what to bring
Winning is the happy part, but a lottery ticket is a bearer document: whoever holds a valid ticket is paid, and a missed deadline means forfeiture. Do these things right away.
1. Protect the ticket
- Don't fold it, get it wet, or write over the numbers. Torn or altered tickets can be refused.
- Photograph both sides and write your name and ID number on the back as the company instructs (many require it).
2. Deadline: 30 days
Traditional-lottery prizes must be claimed within 30 days of the draw date; Vietlott allows 60 days. After that the prize goes to the state budget — no exceptions.
3. Where to claim
- Small prizes (roughly 8th to 4th): the agent or seller can pay directly.
- Large prizes (3rd and above, especially the Special): go to the head office of the lottery company of the issuing province (or a representative office) with the original ticket and your citizen ID. The company verifies the ticket by machine and pays in cash or by transfer after withholding tax.
4. Tax
The part of a prize above 10 million đồng is taxed at 10%, withheld before payment. A 2-billion Special pays about 1.801 billion net.
5. Stay safe
- Never hand the original ticket to a stranger offering to "claim it for you". Bring a family member if you need help.
- No legitimate service buys winning tickets for more than the prize.
- Results on any website — including this one — are for reference; the lottery company's verification is final.
